Disability Equality Training Introduction

COURSE INFORMATION

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS COURSE?

This course is designed to help staff working with disabled customers/staff or managing staff responsible for HR management policies and customer care, to identify and plan for meeting statutory duties under current legislation.

WHY CHOOSE DCIL?

As an organisation of disabled people we have the advantage of being truly representative of the concerns and wishes of disabled people themselves.

WHAT SHOULD I DO PRE COURSE?

Consider the view that disabled people are disadvantaged by the way society is organised.

More effective information and planning would make it possible for disabled people to enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else in employment and would enable them to access goods, services and leisure facilities. Taking account of access and legal requirements of disabled people will help organisations to meet legal requirements, taking advantage of the skills and abilities of disabled workers and of the spending power of disabled customers.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THIS COURSE?

It aims to raise awareness of:

  • How our attitudes create barriers and how we can change them
  • What are physical barriers and ways of changing them
  • Your organisation and the law on disability
  • Meeting the needs of disabled customers
  • Meeting the needs of disabled employees
  • What an organisation will gain from good disability equality practice.
