About Information
DCIL's Information Service is widely acknowledged as a leader in
it's field in the UK. At our head office in Ripley, or at
Information points around the county, information operators act
as a first point of contact for enquirers. Assisted by their own
direct experience of disability, and using the latest technology,
our operators use DCIL's extensive resources to find the
necessary information, further contacts or sources of
support.
Disabled people have identified four key points about disability
information:
- Lack of information is disabling
- What we need to know is simple
- It is based on our experience
- We need to tell each other
DCIL Data

Examples of enquiries
Here are a few examples of the types of enquiry that our information service deals with on a regular basis (they were all genuine enquiries):
- "Where can I find a sign-language interpreter?"
- "Can I hire a wheelchair in Tenerife?"
- "Is there an MS Support Group in the Chesterfield area?"
- "I am doing a project on disabled people's inclusion - have you any information?"
- "Is there an accessible venue in Derby for a conference for 40 people?"
